    Job Title: Section Manager – Blood Bank

     

    Overview:We’re looking for a Section Manager to lead our Blood Bank team. This role ensures smooth daily operations, compliance with regulations, and high-quality patient care. You’ll manage staff, oversee blood product inventory, and serve as the link between the Blood Bank and other hospital departments.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (NYSDOH, AABB, TJC, FDA).

    + Oversee daily operations and staff training.

    + Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, competencies, and quality control.

    + Manage blood product inventory and vendor relationships.

    + Develop and update procedures and SOPs.

    + Investigate and resolve issues, incidents, and complaints.

    + Participate in committees and quality improvement initiatives.

    + Schedule staff and maintain adequate coverage.

    + Provide education and training for employees and students.

    + Stay current with new technologies and practices in laboratory science.

    Requirements:

    + Strong leadership and organizational skills.

    + Knowledge of regulatory standards and laboratory operations.

    + Ability to train, evaluate, and develop staff.

    + Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

    Education:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry from an accredited school OR meet NYS Department of Health requirements for a Technical Supervisor.

    + Must hold a NYSED Clinical Laboratory Technology license or provide proof of application.

    Experience:

    + Meets all federal and state requirements for a laboratory supervisor.

    + Minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience after qualifying as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or equivalent per NYS regulations).

    + Strong organizational and communication skills.
