Description
The Manager, Organ Recovery (ORM), supports the mission, goals, and strategic plan of LifeCenter Northwest (LifeCenter). The ORM has direct accountability for the successful management of day-to-day organ operations of the Organ Recovery Coordinator (ORC). This position is responsible for leading the team to maximize organ utilization. The Organ Optimization and Recovery team plays a critical role in supporting LifeCenter’s mission through evaluating potential organ donor referrals, maximizing medical management of organ donors, allocating donated organs, coordinating the organ recovery, and organ perfusion.
Management Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and monitors the implementation of initiatives that will improve organ recovery operations. Directs clinical initiatives focusing on opportunities to maximize donation and organs transplanted. Assists in the development and day-to-day management of departmental budget. Functions as a resource to team in evaluation, medical management, allocation, and logistics. Develops and ensures the consistent application of departmental policies and procedures. Provides continuous performance feedback and personal development plans. Successfully leads groups (e.g., committees, workgroups, and staff teams). Ensures that all donor evaluations, donor management, and donated organs are allocated in an efficient, equitable, and timely manner in accordance with LifeCenter and Organ Procurement and Transplant Network (OPTN)/United Network of Organ Sharing (UNOS) policies. Provides follow up on any deviations from practice regarding donor evaluations, donor management, and organs allocated in accordance with LifeCenter and OPTN/UNOS policies. Maintains the highest standards of professional conduct and interpersonal relationship development, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment . Provides effective coaching to engage, support, and motivate staff to realize their greatest potential in service of LifeCenter’s mission. Works with appropriate leadership and relevant departments to increase donation and transplantation outcomes and compliance with quality processes. Maintains current knowledge of organizational performance in identified key metrics and initiatives
Training Responsibilities
+ Complies with Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and UNOS Guidelines.
+ Partners with Learning & Development and serves as a content expert in training programs.
+ Assists in developing, coordinating, and performing training for Organ Donation Services (ODS) staff. This includes assisting with onboarding, didactic and clinical training, revising training materials, and coordinating training activities for new employees and continuing education activities.
+ Assists in implementation of continuing education programs and competencies for team members.
+ Promotes development opportunities through identification team members who can provide subject matter expertise and content delivery with training and onboarding.
+ This position requires regular, time-sensitive travel to and from case activity across the region. As such, the ability to independently and reliably commute between locations is essential to fulfilling the responsibilities of the role. Due to the nature of the work, which may involve urgent or unscheduled travel, personal driving capability is a critical operational need.
Clinical Responsibilities
+ Will be reasonably available to respond or support as an additional team member during periods of high donor volume, assisting with on-call duties of an Organ Recovery Coordinator (ORC) (refer tojob descriptions for ORC).
+ Maintains current knowledge of the donation and transplantation industry.
Communication Responsibilities
+ Develops and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
+ Plans and executes communication strategies of organizational strategic goals and initiatives
+ Collaborates with donor hospital staff and other organ recovery teams to facilitate successful transplant outcomes.
+ Is responsible for effective communication and coordination with medical professionals, hospitals, and donation organizations.
+ Serves as clinical resource for Hospital Development which may include giving presentations to various groups.
Admin and Quality Responsibilities
+ Participates in timely resolution of non-conformance investigations and development of appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
+ Participates in compliance, quality assurance, and performance improvement programs and initiatives.
Supervision
+ This position directly supervises assigned staff and oversees the operations of their team(s) to ensure departmental functions and operations are achieved successfully. This position is a member of the leadership team of LifeCenter Northwest and has influence interdepartmentally as well as cross functionally.

+ An ability to accurately present the donation process in formal and informal educational opportunities.

Physical Activities/Requirements
+ This position requires on-call responsibilities and travel is essential to this position; the employee must be prepared to travel by automobile and aircraft within and outside the LifeCenter service area.
+ This position requires the ability to effectively operate phones, computers, smart phones, office equipment
+ The individual must have the ability to communicate clearly using the English language to accurately convey information and be able to hear at normal speaking levels both in person and over the phone.
+ Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
+ Work is usually done in an office or hospital setting and other business environments.
+ Generally, working conditions have exposure to bio-hazardous materials.
+ This position requires hospital immunization, health screening, and background check requirements. Immunizations and tests will be provided by LifeCenter as required.
+ The employee is required to move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance.
ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITMENT
Because of the nature of this position, the incumbent may need to work outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends, sometimes without advance notice.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & JOB REQUIREMENTS
+ RN or equivalent work experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree with previous ORC experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
+ CPTC required or to be obtained within 15 months of hire.
+ Preferred 5 years of ORC experience (or similar role responsibility) with 2 years of relevant leadership experience or equivalent healthcare leadership experience.
+ Requires a valid driver’s license and access to an insured automobile for work-related functions at expected times.
+ Must possess valid state or federally issued identification suitable for air travel.

The pay range for this role is provided above. Where a candidate’s compensation falls within this range is based on several bona fide factors such as experience, tenure, and other specialized knowledge. LifeCenter Northwest is committed to providing its employees equitable and competitive compensation.
This position is eligible for additional compensation to the base pay rate in the form of the Management Incentive Compensation Program.
