    DIVISION OF LAW ENFORCEMENT

    OPS GIS TECHNICIAN

    LEON COUNTY / POSITION NUMBER 77900065

    $18.00 HOURLY / 32 HOURS PER WEEK

     

    This position will focus on both Crime Intelligence and GIS mapping. This position involves the collection, analysis and presentation of data related to criminal activity investigated by agency personnel. Initiates research projects. Prepares reports, charts, maps, and analytical assessments upon request. Provides analysis/reports/maps of officer activities, targeted enforcement efforts, targeted species protection efforts, time periods, complaints, etc., to assist in law enforcement operations and to improve customer service. Provides data analysis and reports to assist in law enforcement operations. Create static maps as requested by various DLE staff. Converts information from different data file sources into GIS information/layers. Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis. Assists with updating and maintaining information associated with ongoing GIS projects. Integrates geographic science with spatial design to present criminal intelligence information in a manner that best fits the user’s needs.

    Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:

    + Knowledge of research and intelligence analysis techniques.

    + Ability to analyze, interpret and summarize criminal intelligence data.

    + Ability to create maps using ARC GIS, as well as familiarity with R programming.

    + Ability to make independent decisions.

    + Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

    + Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

    + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Must successfully pass a level 2 background check

    + Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Power Point Access, and Outlook.

    + Must have knowledge and experience with ARC GIS, including ArcGIS Pro and, ArcGIS Online.

    + Must have knowledge and experience with R Programming.

    + Must be able to think critically and have excellent time management skills.

    + Must be available to travel for presentations throughout the state.

    + Must have a valid driver's license.

    + Must be able to work in a law enforcement environment and maintain strict confidentiality.
