    Your role and responsibilities

    As a Quantum Systems Test Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and deployment of IBM’s quantum computing technology. You will work closely with a team of experts to design, test, and integrate quantum systems, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

     

    Your primary focus will be on the testing and validation of quantum systems, specifically the Quantum Processing Unit’s (QPU) communication path and related components. You will develop and execute test plans, identify and troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve problems and improve system performance.

     

    In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, including cryogenic systems, microwave electronics, and advanced test equipment. You will also contribute to the development of new test methodologies and tools, and help to drive innovation in the field of quantum computing.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Ensuring successful integration and validation of quantum systems

    • Learning, executing and expanding the test process and automated tools

    • Identifying and resolving system issues and defects

    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve system performance and quality

    • Developing documentation on integration and test procedures as systems evolve

    • Supporting system availability by resolving incidents and improving the monitoring infrastructure

    Required technical and professional expertise

    * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or related field

    * Proficiency in programming with languages such as Python, Shell or C/C+* Experience working in a laboratory environment

    * Knowledge of electrical test equipment, signal analyzers

    * Strong communication and collaboration skills

    Preferred technical and professional experience

    * Knowledge of cryogenic systems and low-temperature test environments

    * Hands-on experience with microwave electronics and test equipment such as vector network analyzers

    * Strong debugging skills, including use of test automation/debuggers

    * Knowledge of electrical design principles and analog/radio frequency components

    * Experience and ability to deliver in a time-constrained environment

    * Exceptional communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills
