**Adecco Healthcare & Life Sciences** is hiring a highly motivated **Molecular Biology Scientist** on behalf of a leading global biopharmaceutical partner in Framingham, MA.
**Pay:** Up to **57.95/hr** based on education and relevant experience level
Duration: 1 year Contract to Hire
This role will join a high-performing, collaborative Cell Line Development team focused on advancing CHO cell line development platforms through modern molecular biology techniques and automation.
The scientist will contribute to the optimization of workflows, expression systems, and CLD methodologies used to generate recombinant CHO cell lines for protein biologics manufacturing. Responsibilities include designing next-generation vector topologies using advanced cloning strategies (e.g., Gibson assembly, Golden Gate cloning) and supporting high-throughput, automated vector construction pipelines. This position directly supports development programs within a robust biologics pipeline and involves frequent cross-functional collaboration with global CMC partners across the U.S. and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
+ Design and construct expression vectors using advanced molecular cloning techniques (Gibson assembly, Golden Gate cloning, restriction enzyme cloning, site-directed mutagenesis)
+ Develop, optimize, and implement automated, high-throughput vector construction and DNA assembly workflows on liquid handling platforms
+ Generate, validate, and bank vector constructs for expression of candidate biotherapeutics in mammalian cell systems
+ Perform molecular characterization using ddPCR, Sanger sequencing, restriction mapping, and related techniques
+ Support NGS library preparation for genomic and transcriptomic analysis of CHO cell lines
+ Troubleshoot and optimize molecular biology protocols to improve efficiency, robustness, and reproducibility
+ Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate data, findings, and project progress
+ Maintain detailed electronic laboratory notebooks and accurate experimental documentation
Basic Qualifications
+ PhD (0–3 years of postdoctoral or industry experience) in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field
+ Strong hands-on experience with molecular cloning techniques including Gibson assembly, Golden Gate cloning, restriction cloning, and PCR-based methods
+ Demonstrated expertise in DNA construct design, vector engineering, and plasmid preparation
+ Experience with genetic characterization methods (ddPCR, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencing analysis)
+ Proficiency in designing and optimizing workflows for automation on liquid handling platforms (Hamilton, Tecan, or similar)
+ Excellent attention to detail with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
+ Self-motivated, well-organized, and effective communicator with the ability to manage multiple priorities
+ Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while meeting project timelines
Preferred Qualifications
+ Mammalian cell culture experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting, particularly with CHO cells
+ Experience with high-throughput screening and clone selection strategies
+ Familiarity with sequence analysis and in silico cloning tools (SnapGene, Benchling, Geneious, Primer3, or similar)
+ Understanding of CHO cell line development and recombinant protein expression workflows
+ Experience with Oxford Nanopore Technologies or other NGS platforms
+ Basic programming or data analysis skills in R or Python
+ Experience with command-line or Bash scripting for bioinformatics workflows
+ Exposure to automated colony picking and clone tracking systems
+ Adaptability in a fast-paced, goal-driven research environment with a willingness to expand technical skillsets
