+ Position Summary:

Obtain needed medications for the pharmacy department at the best possible price either through the direct vendor, wholesaler, hospital storeroom or local sources in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations. Search for and oversee the disposition of recalled drugs throughout the department and the hospital and document the results. Oversee the disposition of expired drugs. Store all pharmaceuticals according to manufacturer’s recommendations. Assist with certain office-related functions on an as-needed basis.

+ Qualifications:

A. Education: 1. Maintain a current Pharmacy Technician Certification from the Texas State of Pharmacy. 2. College level courses in accounting and inventory control preferred. B. Training and Experience: Minimum of three years of purchasing experience and at least two years of pharmacy purchasing experience. C. Job Knowledge: Must have knowledge of Wholesaler policies, MCHS Materials Management policies, state and federal law regarding controlled substances, drug nomenclature, 340B regulations, and department financial information.
