    A Day in the Life

     

    The Director of Quote-to-Contract Operations will be responsible for defining and building a quote to contract process and function for Surgical Robotics. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role that combines strategic design with hands-on execution. The role will develop the overall quote to contract strategy, establish roadmaps and governance processes, and directly execute the contract redlining process, including reviewing, facilitating negotiation and ensuring internal stakeholders response in a timely manner.

     

    This role oversees the deal structure, quote and contracting processes, and associated field facing enablement programs that ensure our sales organization operates with accuracy, speed, and compliance. This role requires exceptional operational leadership, the ability to simplify complexity, and influence across a highly matrixed, capital intensive, innovation driven business.

    Strategic Responsibilities

    + Design and implement a commercial QTC strategy and roadmap to support RST business goal achievement.

    + Build the foundation for a **scalable quote (deal) and contracting function** , including defining future roles, processes, and systems.

    + Establish governance policies for quoting, contracting alignment, and commercial processes leveraging technology, where possible.

    + Act as a **change agent** , driving adoption of best practices across the organization.

    + Lead and/or support cross‑functional initiatives that advance commercial processes, operational infrastructure, and business transformation efforts.

    Operational & Execution Responsibilities

    + Lead/facilitate deal model/deal structure discussions between sales, finance, legal and leadership teams.

    + Lead the contract redline process for Hugo deals, acting as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders (Sales, Legal, Finance, Contract & Pricing, Marketing) and external customers.

    + Ensure timely contract execution and approval, balancing speed with risk mitigation.

    + Maintain contract templates and playbooks, updating them to reflect evolving business needs and compliance standards.

    + Manage and monitor the pipeline of deals between quote, contract and execution. Develop reporting KPIs, as needed to demonstrate status, risks, and achievement.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    + Serve as the **subject matter expert and quarterback** for commercial contracting (manage and facilitate complex deal structures, non‑standard requests, and cross‑functional alignment needs) to ensure the most accurate and efficient process.

    + Collaborate with Marketing to understand pricing strategy and discount frameworks and escalation guidelines.

    + Collaborate with Contract and Pricing teams on and technology roadmaps and process alignment with the larger surgical organization.

    Continuous Improvement & Technology

    + Drive continuous improvement to streamline **processes and workflows and** enhance data accuracy.

    + In collaboration with C&P teams, develop and deploy contracting **tools** **and programs** that improve field efficiency and reduce administrative burden.

    + Operate as the Robotics business owner of quoting and contracting systems through leading system and process enhancements in CPQ.

    + Influence larger commercial system design and optimization (Salesforce, CPQ, CLM, ERP touchpoints) in partnership with IT, Sales Operations and business stakeholders.

    Training & Field Readiness

    + Build training and communication plans for new processes, systems, pricing programs, policies, and commercial guidelines.

    + Provide timely updates to the field on contract changes, performance issues, and customer‑impacting matters

    Must Have: Minimum Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, legal studies or related field.

    + 10 years experience with 8+ years of experience in commercial contracting, pricing strategy, or commercial operations, preferably in medical devices or healthcare.

    + Strong understanding of contract law, compliance regulations, and healthcare industry standards.

    + Proven ability to negotiate complex agreements and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

    + Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

    + Experience with commercial CRM systems (SFDC) and/or contract management systems (Conga, PROS, etc) and process automation is a plus

    Nice to Have

    + Prior experience building a commercial contracting strategy or function.

    + Deep understanding of quote‑to‑cash processes, contracting workflows, pricing governance, and commercial operations infrastructure.

    + Proven ability to simplify complexity and drive operational improvements.

    + Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.

    + Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

    Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$164,000.00 - $246,000.00

     

    This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

     

    This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.

     

    The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

     

    The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).
