    Job Summary

    An NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available immediately in the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan Medical School, a top-tier research institution. Our group investigates the immunological and cellular mechanisms underlying inflammatory mucosal diseases, with a focus on neutrophil epithelial interactions. Current projects explore cellular mechanisms whereby neutrophils regulate intestinal epithelial inflammation and repair. The successful candidate will be expected to design and execute experiments, publish results in peer-reviewed journals and participate in preparation and submission of research grant applications under the guidance of Dr Brazil. Preference will be given to individuals with proficiency in neutrophil cell biology, flow cytometry, RNA seq, and mouse models of inflammation.

    Responsibilities*

    + Lead independent and collaborative projects investigating neutrophil-epithelial interactions in the gut.

    + Design and conduct experiments using human cells and murine models, immunological assays (flow cytometry, IFA, ELISA), and molecular biology approaches (qPCR, transcriptomics, ChIP,).

    + Analyze and interpret data, prepare manuscripts, and present findings at national and international conferences.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Prospective candidates for this position are required to have a minimum of a PhD degree in the biological sciences, immunology or a related field.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Strong background in neutrophil biology

    + Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    + Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
