    Chemours currently has a position available for a **Process Mechanic** at our LaPorte Plant site located on the ship channel in **LaPorte, TX** .

     

    The primary responsibility of this role is to support production by performing diagnostics and repairs regarding all mechanical aspects of equipment and piping systems in a chemical manufacturing plant. The mechanic will diagnose trouble or malfunctions of equipment/piping systems and then repair, maintain, replace and install parts and equipment as required to return the process to normal operation. The mechanic applies working knowledge and experience to independently improve maintenance techniques and operations, and upgrade equipment. This position will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.

    The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

    + Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of mechanical machine failures by disassembly and inspection of components using senses, documentation, and others.

    + Follow-upon repairs with observation, operator discussions, and monitoring of equipment after it is in service to confirm successful repairs.

    + Perform alignment checks and mechanical clearances to ensure proper operation, lubricate equipment, and complete all repair phases through completion.

    + Pipefitting tasks including layout, sizing, threading, bending, assembly, installation, andmaintainingpipe systems, supports, and related hydraulic/pneumatic equipment for utilities and industrial processing of hazardous and nonhazardous materials.

    + Use various hand, power, and industrial tools to performvarietyof maintenance tasks asrequiredinshopor process area.

    + Safely work with pressure, temperature, level and flow in pipe systems and using pressure gauge for leak testing.

    + Safely handle hazardous and non-hazardous materials and wastes in compliance with all plant requirements and environmental regulations

    + Candidates may be selected to complete online and onsite assessments as part of the hiring process. To be further considered, candidates must meet assessment requirements. Job relocation and/or travelassistancewill not be available for this opportunity.

    In order to** **be qualified for this role you** **_must_** **possess** **the following:

    + High School diploma or GED equivalent

    + Two-year Certificate / Associate Degree in Machinist & Pipefitter Mechanic Advance Skill (Machining / Pipefitting) or two years of industrial mechanical experience, or Four years of industrial mechanic experience in advance skill

    + Willing and able to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and on short notice call-in as required.

    + Willing and able to work in a high hazard process.

    + Willing and able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toed shoes, hardhat, Nomex, protective eyewear, face shields, arc protective clothing, and SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus).

    + Experience maintaining and repairing industrial machinery using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing instruments.

    + Willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, ladders, columns, and to stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, reach overheads, hear and respond to alarms, and possess visual acuity for close work.

    + Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.) and able to learn new computer systems.

    **The following skill sets are** **_preferred_** **by the business unit** :

    + Experience in reading and interpreting Schematics, Procedures, Manufacturers’ Literature, Safety Requirements,

    + General Instructions, and ability to learn and detect process deviations.

    + Welding experience.

    + Experiencemaintainingrotating equipment.

    + Experience with mobile crane operation andoperatingpowered industrial vehicles (fork trucks, pallet trucks,towdevices, etc.).

    + Journeyman Pipefitter certification and/or Millwright certification.

    + Experience performinga jobsafety analysis and equipment lockout safety procedures.

    + Experience with SAP or equivalent manufacturing operations software.

    + Relevant Military Experience

     

    Successful applicants will be required to take an online pre-employment test, participate in pre-employment selection process and interviews. The pre-hiring process will include a drug screening along with a security background check.
