Ford’s Research and Advanced Engineering team explores new vehicle and societal innovations that require some level of invention before they can be applied to our products and services. We deliver ways to make smarter vehicles and innovate using sustainable, environmentally, and socially responsible methods and materials. Since 2000, we have used twelve industry- and world-first plant-based materials in our production vehicles. We also are researching the possible use of tomato skin, bamboo, agave fiber, dandelion roots, algae, and coffee chaff as part of our ambitious goal of making our vehicles with up to 20 percent sustainable material by 2025.
What you’ll be able to do:
Serve as research engineer in Research and Advanced Engineering organization, focusing on audio interactions and technologies. Research, develop, and refine future features and acoustic sound sensing technology to ensure Ford stays on the cutting edge of investigating and developing innovative features for our future customers. Lead GTDS projects researching emerging solutions for long term problem statements (anticipated in 5 – 10 years) and technology integrator milestone events (, , , etc.). Create and update audio feature roadmaps based on competitive analysis, supplier offerings, university findings, and distill into actionable plans for vehicle integration. Build proof of concept properties to demonstrate researched solutions and demonstrable prototypes to expose new features to program management and planning/strategy groups to aid in execution and adoption. Write software where necessary to improve prototype performance and execution.

You'll have...
+ Requires a bachelor’s or foreignequivalent degree in engineering or a related field
+ 2 years of experience in the position offered or 2 years of experience developing new audio features and building prototype demonstrations in an automotive environment
+ 2 years of experience performing audio integration utilizing digital signal processing hardware and software and building and executing Audio Weaver models for acoustic solutions
+ 1 year of experience performing hands-on design and development for electronic or software prototypes
+ Employee reports to office in Dearborn, MI. Position may work from home, but must live within commuting distance of stated office
+ Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently
We are offering a salary of $91,431 to $157,679 per year.
