Position Description
The Nutrition Specialist (NS Coord)-Social Services performs the administrative duties involved in overseeing and participating in a program to serve meals, and provide an opportunity for socialization, recreation and nutrition education to elderly and disabled individuals. Typical Duties
+ Oversees, serves, and delivers meals, nutrition education, and other items as necessary to eligible customers.
+ Assesses eligibility for home delivered & congregate meal services to customers using established policies and guidelines.
+ Creates an atmosphere that is comfortable and conducive to social interaction among the clients and provide recreational activities and nutrition education for program customers.
+ Ensures all reservation sheets are accurate and updated weekly.
+ Completes and submits missed visit reports.
+ Submits accurate monthly reports by the designated deadline.
+ Conducts community outreach to engage with the community and inform potential customers of the nutrition program.
+ Conducts monthly meetings with the building manager of the specified site.
+ Provides information and referral to community agencies for clients as needed.
+ Provides back up support to the home delivered meal drivers in their absence.
+ Provides emotional support to customers and encourages them to be as independent as possible.
+ Receives and account for all fees, donations and other sources of income accrued by the site during operation.
+ Makes all bank deposits, collect and compile all monthly paperwork.
+ Completes and submits all monthly documentation in a timely manner.
+ Recruits, trains and coordinates all volunteers.
+ Ensures all safety and sanitation standards are observed.
+ Provides administrative support via, filing, meal counts, documenting assessments completed in the agency case management system, answering phones, and case record accountability etc.
+ Attends all meetings, trainings, in-services and workshops as required.
+ Performs any other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid Driver's License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Experience working with elderly and disabled persons
+ Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing food service and sanitation
+ Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR
