Training Specialist – Corn Plant- Decatur, IL
This is an exempt level position.
Job Summary:
Reporting to the HR Manager, this role is responsible for developing and coordinating learning and development at ADM’s Corn Plant. The training coordinator will prepare, develop, manage and coordinate the training of hourly and salaried colleagues. This role will work closely with site and department leaders to assess efficiency, identify continuous improvement opportunity and support process sustainability.
Job Functions:
+ Primary focus will be managing and facilitating Continuous Colleague Development activities throughout the Corn Plant.
+ Follows and incorporates all safety, quality and site rules while performing work and crafting training processes.
+ Read and utilize plant documentation including Process Manuals, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Work Permits, etc.
+ Conduct training needs gap analyses (Loss Driven Deployments) and determine mitigation plan to address identified gaps in training.
+ Support the design and development of training materials and assessments along with learning/certification plans.
+ Deliver learning content for classroom and field training as well as develop others to do the same.
+ Facilitate written and performance assessments as well as vital remediation plans.
+ Provide effective feedback and mentoring throughout operator qualification process.
+ Responsible for the Site’s new hire training and managing the mentoring program.
+ Develop and support a system for maintaining training records and data.
+ Analyze surveys, assessments, field audits and key performance impacts to determine training efficiency.
+ Enhance skills to include adult learning methodologies and deliver one on one coaching and instruction, in the field training, casual small group training, and formal stand up instruction.
+ Utilize plan, do, check, act to achieve continuous improvement.
+ Other similar duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
+ Ability to establish expectations for safety, quality, reliability, service and efficiency.
+ Experience with operation of manufacturing processes and machinery including Pre Start-Up, Start-Up, Normal Operations, Shut-Downs, Emergency Shut-Downs, Troubleshooting and Preventive Maintenance.
+ Experience with Management of Change, Quality and Food Safety practices, JSA, Incident Investigation, etc.
+ Must be customer focused and be proactive in dealing with conflict, influencing others, listening, management of priorities, organization & planning and partnering.
+ Excellent decision making ability and problem solving skills.
+ Excellent organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills both oral and written.
+ Skilled with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Onenote, Visio and PiVision.
+ Experience with photography and video creation.
Education/Training:
+ Minimum of a high school diploma/GED
Experience:
+ Experience with Performance Excellence, Total Process Management, Continuous Colleague Development, A2E(Ability to Execute) or similar continuous improvement systems is a plus
+ Practical and/or educational experience with developing and delivering training
+ Prior industrial experience preferred
Working Conditions:
+ Able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, such as hot and cold temperatures and a dusty or wet environment & various chemicals safely.
Physical Requirements:
+ Ability to ascend and descend stairs
+ Ability to move/transport 55 pounds
+ Sit and stand for long periods
+ Work in confined spaces
+ Work at heights
+ Bending and kneeling
+ Be respirator qualified
