Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor (Art Appreciation) position in the Academic & Student Affairs division, Arts and Sciences department. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.
Under general supervision, the Adjunct Arts Instructor provides instruction to students in Introduction to Art courses in the Arts & Sciences Division / Gen. Ed. Department. This position requires a passion, demonstrated by experience, for effective teaching and advisement of diverse students.
The primary duties and responsibilities for this position will include, but may not be limited to, the following:
• Demonstrates the use of appropriate teaching techniques.
• Demonstrates the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping required.
• Demonstrates the effective use of oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and efficient use of Blackboard .
• Follows approved course syllabus.
• Completes all reports, records and invoices in a timely manner and maintains an accurate inventory of all assigned properties.
• Advises and counsels students and maintains appropriate advisement records on each student.
• Maintains classrooms and labs in accordance with institutional safety guidelines.
• Attending meetings, as required and appropriate.
• Observes and enforces the institution’s policies and regulations.
• Assists with student recruitment and job placement.
• Serves on committees, as needed.
• Maintains qualifications for employment in accordance with institutional and accreditation guidelines.
• Maintains qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College system of Georgia Policy Manual.
• Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution ; and
• Perform additional duties, as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications :
Must possess and demonstrate the following:
• Master’s Degree in Art, Art History or a related field; or a master’s degree in a related field with at least eighteen (18) graduate hours in the aforementioned disciplines from a regionally accredited institution .
• One (1) year or more of online teaching experience.
• Ability to work flexible hours, when necessary, specifically evening and weekend hours.
• Work experience must include the competencies, skills and knowledge levels required for Art / Humanities instruction for learning support (remedial) and general education areas.
• Experience as an instructor/teacher in a secondary or postsecondary setting.
• Experience with BANNER student information system, experience with Blackboard learning management system and Microsoft Office experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
