Description

Summary:We are seeking an Awake Overnight Counselor to join our dedicated team at East House. In this role, you will provide overnight awake supervision and monitor the environment for safety and security in the unit. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our clients and maintaining a safe and supportive residential environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safely Managed Medications

+ Provide supervision of medication to clients, adhering to East House medication policies and procedures.

+ Properly log in client medications and ensure documentation is consistent with medication changes.

+ Audit medication book as directed by the immediate supervisor.

Results Measures:

+ Medication documentation and supervision meet East House standards 100% of the time.

+ No medication errors.

2. Safe Clients

+ Maintain security and safety of clients and the facility through regular monitoring of the environment; identify and address problems as needed per unit procedure.

+ Provide immediate response to crises and emergencies following East House policies and procedures.

Results Measures:

+ Overnight logs consistently reflect attention to maintaining a safe residence.

+ Review incident reports of incidents occurring during on-duty shifts reflect appropriate response.

3. Clean House/Supported Staff

+ Provide regular light housekeeping; cooking and stocking of the kitchen as needed.

+ Provide primary unit clerical support as directed by the immediate supervisor.

+ Prepare household supply inventory as directed by the immediate supervisor.

+ Perform routine facility maintenance tasks, including exterior maintenance as needed.

+ Complete unit-specific overnight checklist items.

Results Measures:

+ Unit is consistently maintained as a safe and sanitary environment.

+ Unit consistently has supplies needed to perform its functions.

+ Assigned duties are completed and performed to satisfactory condition.

4. Documentation Standards Met

+ Maintain documentation to the standards defined by regulators, funders, and East House policies and procedures.

+ Perform chart audits as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Results Measures:

+ Meets documentation standards as evidenced by audits, chart reviews, and recertification reviews.

Physical/Mental Demands:

+ Sitting, handling objects, paperwork, computer work, and communication with others.

+ Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs.), walking, standing, and reaching.

+ Finger dexterity, hearing, and visual requirements.

+ Ability to maintain emotional control under stressful situations.

+ Ability to fully navigate the facility.

Working Conditions:

+ Must be available for work on weekends and holidays.

Requirements

Position Qualifications:

Minimum Education & Experience:

+ High School Diploma or equivalent.

+ Some paid human service experience.

Licensure/Certifications:

+ NYS motor vehicle license and safe driving record. (License not required for positions located at Affinity Place).

Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

+ For Affinity Place staff: Past or present consumer of mental health and/or chemical addiction services.

+ Basic computer literacy.

+ Basic Microsoft Word skills.

Salary Description

$19.00-$19.50
