    Description

    Working within the framework of the philosophy and objectives set forth by the Director of Transplant Services, the Nurse Manager for the solid organ transplant program is accountable for the supervision, monitoring and evaluation of the transplant program staff. Responsible for the clinical and business operations of the program. This position requires an advanced level of expertise and overall understanding of organ transplantation including knowledge and understanding of regulatory standards (CMS, UNOS, JC). Oversees compliance with internal policies and external regulatory agencies. Utilizing a wide range of alternatives in problem solving situations, demonstrates a high degree of professional competence and skill. Under the direction of the Medical and Surgical Director, responsibility involves coordination of interdisciplinary medical care delivery system involving medical disciplines as well as ancillary programs; assessment of appropriate medical intervention for effective use of resources. Oversees and monitors the quality of transplant care in partnership with the Medical Center QA/PI program. Additional responsibilities include assessing and monitoring medical case management protocols to maintain effective long-term patient management, development and implementation of educational materials and programs for patients, nursing staff and physicians. Development and implementation of clinical protocols, and policy and procedures. Community education and public relations. Transplant donor/recipient coordination and liaison function with organ procurement agencies.

     

    Salary range: $140,200 - $331, 800 ( annually)

    Qualifications

    + Current CA RN license; graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor's Degree required; Masters' degree highly preferred and minimum 5 years clinical transplant coordinator experience. (Required)

    + BLS from AHA or ARC - required

    + CCTC - preferred

    + Demonstrated by previous experience as a transplant coordinator/transplant manager (at least 5 years):

    + An ability to oversee and case manage all aspects of transplant care from initial evaluation to transplant/donation

    + Apply a broad understanding and knowledge of organ transplantation/donation, including immunology, immunosuppression, rejection and other complications of transplantation, drug toxicity and graft failure. (Required)

    + Knowledge of transplantation to develop and implement policies, procedures, standards and protocols for quality organ transplant patient and donor care (Required)

    + Ability to ensure regulatory protocol compliance is maintained by solid organ transplant staff (Required)

    + Ability to make decisions based on the best interest of the patient, program and the hospital(Required)

    + Strong communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with transplant program leadership, clinical team members, and staff (Required)

    + Ability to disseminate complex, specialized information to diverse audiences within and outside the Health System (Required)

    + Ability to project a calm, reassuring and confident manner and promote a cohesive team environment (Required)

    + Behaviors, actions, and language reflect conscious commitment to supporting program department and hospital vision and mission (Required)

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with persons of various cultural and educational backgrounds.(Required)

    + Excellent analytical, organizational skills, proficiency in meeting deadlines, ability to work independently, manage numerous concurrent tasks in a high-stress environment, deal with change, problem-solve, and prioritize workload (Required)

    + Knowledge of Title 22.(Required)

    + Ability to analyze information to define the problem/objective; identify relevant factors, patterns or relationships; formulate objective conclusions, implement innovative solutions and recognize alternatives and their implications.(Required)

    + Expert knowledge of transplantation and issues involving organ procurement and Medical Center and transplant regulatory agencies including UNOS/OPTN, The Joint Commission, and CMS.(Required)

    + Knowledge of labor relations. (Preferred)

    + Experience in managing under budgetary targets. (Preferred)
