HOURS: 8:00am - 5:00pm
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
To provide optimal patient care by evaluation, program planning and implementation of treatment for patients referred for occupational therapy to restore function and/or prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of body part. To evaluate and recommend equipment needed for the patient to achieve an optimal functional level in the home setting. To provide teaching to patients and caregivers on equipment use, safety, and environmental changes to promote functional status. Responsible for direct supervision of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to ensure that the established treatment plan is followed. The Occupational Therapist may supervise the care provided by the aide to increase the patient’s functional abilities and rehabilitative potential.
Essential Job Functions
+ Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record to make home visits.
+ Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of all work related and sensitive information. Requires a mature individual who projects themselves in a professional manner.
+ Provides direct hands-on patient care following patient’s plan of care and current standards of practice for Occupational Therapy.
+ Documents all care provided, coordination of services, orders, goals, etc. in the patient’s electronic medical record in an accurate and timely manner.
+ Supervises care provided by the COTA and Home Health Aides to ensure that treatment goals are being met.
+ Coordinates with other disciplines, agencies/companies, families, etc. to ensure that the care needs of the patient are met.

Licensing/Certification
+ Current licensure to practice Occupational Therapy in the state of South Carolina is required. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.

+ Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
