    The Culinary Department is seeking a full time Instructor to teach courses in the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management curriculum. The Culinary Arts and Management curriculum includes management and culinary courses, requiring hands-on laboratory instruction that may include:

     

    + Principles of Food Preparation;

    + Quantity Food Production;

    + Menu Planning;

    + Practicum: Kitchen and Dining Room Management;

    + Practicum: Buffet Catering;

    + Multicultural Foods;

    + Advanced Baking;

    + Cost Control and Purchasing;

    + Beverage Management and Service.

     

    In addition to teaching responsibilities, the candidate is expected to participate in curriculum/organization, laboratory facility development and maintenance, student advisement, departmental, college activities and active involvement with student clubs and local professional organizations. The position is ten (10) months and tenure track, and the incumbent will teach a full course load plus hold additional office hours weekly.

    Job Requirements:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree plus a minimum of one year of practical and/or teaching experience in Restaurant, Hotel and/or institutional Food Service Management with emphasis on Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management is required. ServSafe certification or comparable sanitation/food handling certification required.

     

    All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least five years of related work experience with a strong knowledge of foods, culinary arts and hospitality management is preferred. Three years of teaching experience with diverse populations in an industry related program, high school instruction, or on a college level is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate expertise and ability to teach in a minimum of two areas: baking and pastry, culinary arts, or hospitality management, and strong managerial skills are preferred.

    Additional Information:

    POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2025

     

    SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $75,170. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $88,234.
