    JOB PURPOSE: Support caregivers who are caring for children involved with DCYF

     

    JOB SUMMARY: Family Peer Support Specialists are staff who understand the New Hampshire child protection system and have experience, personal or professional, with supporting kin caregivers who are working with the Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). Family Peer Support Specialists have demonstrated their own ability to overcome adversity and achieve positive outcomes. The successful applicant will also have a strong connection and understanding of community resources to benefit families enrolled in services. Family Peer Support Specialists are trained peer professionals that work with kin who are caring for DCYF involved children in their homes.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    + Complete training in: Mandated Reporting, Motivational Interviewing, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), Trauma Informed Practice, Reflective Practice, Strategic Sharing, DCYF 101, Nurturing Parenting, Parenting a Second Time Around (PASTA) and DCYF Core Academy Trainings.

    + Complete CRSW training and licensure requirements within one year of hire and maintain continued requirements for license renewals.

    + Complete field training including shadowing and role playing.

    + Practice cultural competency.

    + Complete annual Fedcap and Granite Pathways training.

    + Ability to pivot and work in ambiguity, understanding community resources change and family’s needs will vary throughout the life of a DCYF case.

    + Partner with DCYF staff in the safety and wellbeing of families.

    + Attend DCYF meetings and other community partner meetings relative to peer support services.

    + Needs assessing and care planning for kin families.

    + Facilitate parenting and kin education sessions both individual and group

    + Administrative work including case documentation, written correspondence and other data entry duties as needed.

    + Always display and maintain confidentiality.

    QUALIFICATIONS: Job qualifications are stated in the Essential Functions of the job description. An employee must be able to accomplish the Essential Functions to be competent in the job. Other special requirements are noted below:

     

    Education: High School Diploma, GED or HiSET.

    Other Skills:

    + Knowledge of family court process.

    + Experience working with children and caregivers in a personal or professional setting

    + Experience with Substance Use Disorder, Mental Health Services and Child Welfare system (lived or professional)

    + Experience working with children and caregivers in a personal or professional setting

    Physical Demands:

    + The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    Work Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

     

    Special Schedule: This is a full-time 40-hour-a-week position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

     

    Travel Demands: Travel is primarily local during the business day.

    Work Experience:

    + Working with children and families preferred

    + Experience with Substance Use Disorder preferred

    + Work cooperatively with others on a team;

    + Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills.

    + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    Other:

    + Demonstrable knowledge of

    + mission, vision and goals of Granite Pathways and The Fedcap Group and execution of relevant policies and procedures.

    + strong organizational, administration, and communication skills (both oral and written).

    + technical skills include using a computer and operating Microsoft, Adobe and Oracle programs.

    Salary Range: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
