    Description of Work Unit

    Johnson Family Equine Hospital & Translational Medicine Institute

    The successful candidate will join an internationally recognized diagnostic imaging program comprised of two small animal and two large animal faculty radiologists, six to eight residents, eight technologists, three office staff, and a PACS administrator. The program is located in the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital ( VTH ) in Fort Collins, Colorado, with an annual imaging caseload of nearly 16,000. The CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a progressive and collaborative workplace with 28 veterinary specialties and dedicated residents, students, and technologists working towards a common goal. The VDI faculty have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty at both the Colorado State University Flint Animal Cancer Center and the Translational Medicine Institute.

     

    Abundant diagnostic imaging resources include digital and computed radiology, fully integrated web-based PACS and RIS system with voice recognition software, 2 Toshiba Aplio units, a GE LOGIQ 9 ultrasound unit, 2 small animal radiology suites, a Phillips Veradius C-arm, Qualibra, nuclear medicine (including a 16 slice PET /CT scanner and small animal gamma cameras), a Siemens Somatom Force-Dual source 128 slice CT, a 1.5 Tesla GE Signa MRI scanner and a linear accelerator radiation therapy unit. A state-of-the-art interventional suite/hybrid operating room is present in the VTH . A Siemens 64 slice CT and 3T MRI unit are also available in the adjacent Translational Medicine Institute.

    Position Summary

    The Colorado State University Veterinary Health System ( VHS ) in Fort Collins, Colorado is seeking applicants for a veterinary radiologist position with a focus on equine and translational research diagnostic imaging. This position will be 0.5 FTE role and based in Fort Collins on the CSU South Campus with flexibility for some remote days/work.     Required Job Qualifications

    + A DVM or equivalent degree.

    + American College of Veterinary Radiology (Radiology) or European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging ( ECVDI ) board certification or eligibility by start date. Board eligible candidates will be expected to achieve certification within one year of employment.

    + Eligibility to obtain a State of Colorado Academic Veterinarian license by employment start date.

    Essential Duties

    Duty/Responsibility

    + This position will provide veterinary diagnostic imaging services to the Johnson Family Equine Hospital ( JFEH ). This could include imaging interpretation, ultrasound, and resident training/support service, based on the candidate and candidate’s location (Fort Collins or remotely-working). Preference for specific imaging modalities may be taken into consideration for clinical scheduling.

    + When on image interpretation service, individuals in these positions will be expected to meet the reading requirements set by the VDI section and JFEH (with exceptions for complex cases or advanced imaging studies such as CT or PET /CT). Interpretation results will be submitted in the electronic medical records system. Results are expected to be accurate and meet the turnaround time for reading set by VDI and the JFEH . This position will be expected to meet all stated diagnostic imaging turnaround times and provide exceptional customer service to JFEH clinicians.

    + During on-floor service, this position may be involved in providing education to veterinary students on the radiology rotation.

    + This position also provides support to imaging research in the Translational Medicine Institute. This entails ensuring MR, CT and DX protocols are of high quality, fit the research scope of work, and image the appropriate location and scan plan. Other opportunities may include providing CE, participation in outreach/service, collaborative research, etc. Review and grading for the research studies are required but can be negotiated as additional pay.
