    A Research Associate/Technician position is immediately available in the Brain Tumor Precision Medicine laboratory of Dr. Keith Ligon. Prior experience in laboratory research is required. The position will involve the multidisciplinary study of cancer cell biology and mechanisms of treatment resistance in adult and pediatric gliomas. The position will involve use and training in a cutting edge techniques such as functional genomics (CRISPR screening), patient-derived human models of cancer, AI/ML methods in digital pathology and spatial biology analysis, human clinical trials. tissue biomarker analysis, genomics studies, stem cell culture, and development of high throughput screening methods for functional precision medicine. Skills or ability to apply computational approaches and implementation of bioinformatics methods is desired (e.g. R programming). Developing independence and will be fostered, and opportunities for intellectual input will also be readily available. The Ligon lab environment is highly collaborative and there will be opportunities to interact with top-tier investigators and their teams in translational and basic science collaborations at the national and international level. Resarch associates also have opportunity for joint appointments at the Broad Institute, Harvard Medical School, and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals as projects require. Applicants will have excellent mentoring and training for academia and industry through projects in the lab and with external collaborators at the national and international level.

     

    Position is available immediately.

     

    We are seeking candidates with at least two years of availability.

    + In vitro cell culture and drug screening of human patient derived organoids/spheroids and models

    + In vivo study, maintenance, and treatment of patient derived xenografts for evaluation of biology and therapeutics

    + Supervised work to perform CRISPR engineering of patient models and screening

    + Generation of molecular and sequencing data and extractions of DNA/RNA, single cell isolations

    + Supervised use of spatial biology methods to examine tissue responses in models and patient sample.

    + Presentation at internal and external meetings of work

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Research Technician

     

    No supervisory responsibilities. Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.

     

    + Undergrad degree is required preferably in molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, neuroscience, or related scientific field is preferred.

    + Prior experience in research is required.

    + Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.

    + Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.

    + Ability to analyze information and use logic to address work-related issues and problems.

    + Must have attention to detail and be thorough in completing work tasks.

    + Ability to work within a team environment.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    + Knowledge of information and techniques related to either biology, chemistry, or medicine is preferred.

    + Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and be able to work with a wide variety of faculty and staff.
