    Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Applicants must have an M.D. and/or Ph.D degree. Molecular Genetic Pathology certification following Pathology residency, or American Board of Medical Genetics certification in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, is required. Physicians must be eligible/licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

     

    Teaching responsibilities may include teaching fellows, residents, medical and graduate students, and staff in a variety of settings.

     

    Clinical responsibilities may include the development and implementation of tools for diagnostic and translational medicine, establishing and improving standards and methods for the interpretation of multi-omic data, assessing risk factors, and appropriate quantitative interpretation of data in clinical lab settings.

     

    Research or scholarship responsibilities may include work in the broad area of genomic diagnostics.

     

    We seek candidates with proven leadership skills and expertise in Genomic Diagnostics. The successful applicant serve as Chief of CHOP’s Division of Genomic Diagnostics (DGD) reporting to the Department Chair.

     

    The DGD encompasses cancer genomics, constitutional genomics and immunogenetics. With 14 faculty and 69 staff, the DGD offers a significant depth and breadth of clinical diagnostic tests including rapid genome, whole exome, gene panels, SNP arrays, cytogenetics, liquid biopsy and NGS-based HLA typing tests. As a key contributor to CHOP’s Omics and Big Data Initiative, the DGD plays an essential role in supporting the hospital’s precision medicine strategy. In addition, the Division’s faculty are engaged in a broad range of research and educational activities.

     

    The successful applicant will be expected to lead with a clear vision for the future of genomic diagnostics, driving innovation by developing new tests and technologies and supporting clinical research initiatives. A key leadership responsibility will involve proactively building and fostering collaborations both within CHOP and with external academic and industry partners to expand the Division’s impact and capabilities.
