Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Responsibilities You will perform calibration, repair, maintenance and certification of a variety of electrical, electronic, and/or physical/dimensional test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). You will use industry approved procedures and test methods to perform precise measurements on general purpose mechanical and electronic test equipment for the US Navy's Metrology and Calibration Program. You will receive detailed instruction to perform routine and repetitive calibration, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, testing, installation and maintenance on precision measurement equipment of limited complexity. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the screen out listed below. The Screen-out for this position is performing the following tasks: 1) planning the work in using various precision measurement instruments and standards such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, measurement machines, and other test equipment; setting up and operating a variety of equipment and standards under actual or simulated operating conditions; 2) applying a comprehensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic principles and operating electronic principles related to equipment which is integrated with other devices; 3) reading, interpreting, and applying a variety of technical electronic data such as schematic symbols, wiring diagrams, tables and charts, mathematical expressions and formulae, calibration procedures, and color codes used in the trade; using scientific notation for very large or small quantities; 4) using basic concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; mathematically determining the effect of temperature, humidity, and other variables on the equipment undergoing calibration, and the calibration standard used. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Education Additional Information This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work. This position requires exposure to high noise levels. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
