Position Title: BUS DRIVER/ BUS DRIVER TRAINEES (NO CDL REQUIRED)

Brief Description: The work involves responsibility for driving a school bus on an assigned route. When driving, the incumbent is responsible for the safe transfer of school children and for maintaining discipline on the bus. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Transportation Supervisor in accordance with established policies and procedures. For those without a CDL, the role includes completing a paid driver training program, which involves studying for the CDL with the support of 19A trainers from the Ithaca City School District.

Number of Vacancies: up to 6

Hours per Week: minimum 20 hours per week

Required Qualifications:

+ Must hold a currently valid driver’s license and be at least 21 years of age.

+ To be hired as a Bus Driver (rather than a Bus Driver Trainee), candidates must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

Desired Characteristics:

+ Proven ability to interact effectively with students and their families who represent cultures that are diverse in terms of race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and other characteristics in order to build an effective and collaborative school community;

Salary Range:

$24.95 per hour as a licensed Bus Driver.

$15.80 per hour during CDL training.
