    + NYU Steinhardt Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions (MPAP) Music Technology Program seeks qualified candidates to teach in the following fields:

    Digital Signal Theory - advanced level (Graduate Level)

    Advanced training in standard digital signal processing techniques for audio and music processing. Topics include filters, delay lines, additive and subtractive synthesis and modulation techniques. The course is organized in seminar-style lectures, where the theory will be reviewed. These will be complemented with programming assignments.

     

    Summary: The course is intended to provide students with advanced training in standard digital signal processing techniques for audio and music processing. This knowledge forms the basis of applications in digital audio effects, audio analysis and sound synthesis, and is relevant to the music generation, processing, recording, reproduction and distribution industries, to name but a few examples.

     

    You must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States, NYU is not an E-verified employer. Compensation is in accordance with NYU’s bargaining agreement with ACT-UAW Local 7902.

     

    It is a rolling deadline. Nevertheless, we immediately need an instructor for Spring 2024 semester. If you are available to teach in the Spring 2024 semester, please submit your application as late as December 15th, 2023. (Earlier is better.)

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Graduate-level degree in audio engineering or related discipline (Music Technology, EE, CS). or equivalent combination of education and professional experience

    + Previous teaching experience preferably in audio engineering or signal processing

    + Expertise in digital signal processing and audio, including at least 4 of the 5 following topics:

    + Linear filter design (FIR and IIR)

    + Digital audio effects (e.g., compression, modulation, etc)

    + Additive and subtractive synthesis

    + Speech processing

    + Physical modeling

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Minimum of 5 years experience and significant achievement in the field

    + Teaching experience at the Graduate level in audio engineering or signal processing

    + Practical industry experience developing audio processing software

    + Experience with developing VST plugins

    + Research experience in digital audio processing

    + Experience with python programming (for continuity with FDST and/or MIR)

    + Experience developing course materials and syllabi
