    Job Title: Field Service Technician

    Reports To: Technical Service Manager

     

    Exemption Classification: Non-Exempt

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM DUTIES

    What is expected of me? - Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

     

    1. Follow the agreed practices as defined in the quality management system.

    2. Work within the scope of your responsibilities.

    3. Check your work to verify its accuracy in meeting the objectives.

    4. Know how you contribute to the achievement of the objectives.

    5. Supervise installation and startup of machines at the customers’ plant and maintain all working components as determined by customers’ needs.

    6. Travel to customers’ location(s) to supervise installation of our machines at the customer’s plant and perform startup of new machine.

    7. Perform field trouble shooting on both warranty and repair orders.

    8. Review jobs in the shop as production is in progress for possible field service problems.

    9. Perform shop fabrication procedures including welding, layout and sheet metal fabrication on customers’ machines at their sites.

    10. Perform electrical fault/functions on customer’s machinery.

    11. Estimate materials that will be needed to trouble shoot customers machines.

    12. Training of other employees and/or customers on machines.

    13. Prepare service reports on jobs in the fields.

    14. Assist Field Service Supervisor when required.

    15. Assist work with manufacturing department on an as needed basis.

    16. Other functions as directed.

     

    Supervisory Responsibilities: May assist in training of temporary /new employees.

    QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

    Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma, and/or equivalent. Minimum of 5-7 years of practical factory experience including welding.

     

    Language Skills: Communicate verbally and/or in writing with other employees, other departments and supervision as to work in progress, problems and/or completion.

     

    Mathematical Skills: Be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide basic numbers.

     

    Reasoning Ability: Be able to identify work process problems and possible solutions.

     

    Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: None.

     

    Physical Demands: Stand for prolonged periods of time on concrete floor. Will be required to kneel, squat, stoop, recline, climb, crawl, and/or bend on an as needed basis. Must be able to adjust visual focus. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, over 50 lbs with assistance of a lifting device.

     

    Work Environment: Traditional shop atmosphere. Subject to temperature variance based on season. Loud noise level. May be exposed to various fumes or smells based on job.

     

    Travel: 65-75% travel.
