    _Candidates will be placed on the appropriate step of the career ladder based on their experience and licensure._

    Responsibilities:

    + Administer high-risk therapies (e.g., Nitric Oxide, Tracheal Gas Insufflation).

    + Perform advanced functions in various settings (OR, ED, Cath Lab, etc.).

    + Conduct procedures like bronchoscopy, ABG lab troubleshooting, pulmonary function tests, EEG, EKG, stress testing, and 24-hour monitoring.

    + Monitor patient responses to therapy and assist with breathing exercises.

    + Maintain patient charts and order equipment repairs.

    + Demonstrate procedures to trainees and supervise students.

    + Assist in transporting ventilated patients and respond to code situations.

    + Evaluate medical orders and interpret clinical data to optimize patient care.

    + Set up and operate respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring safe and efficient function.

    + Act as Lead Respiratory Therapist when needed, providing problem-solving, training, and technique demonstration.

    Education and Experience:

    + Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory program.

    + Alternatively, 5-7 years of experience or NBRC Certification if no Associate’s degree.

    + Bachelor’s degree preferred.

    + 2 years of respiratory care experience, including 1 year in critical care.

    + Complete one approved project annually, starting within 3 months of hire.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

    + CPR certification (AHA standards) within 30 days of hire.

    + Pennsylvania: RCP license and RRT from NBRC.

    + Maryland: Respiratory Therapist license.

    + Maintain NBRC certification if credentialed after July 1, 2002.

    Certifications:

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

    + Osteopathic Respiratory Care or Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP).

    + Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
