About Us
Orca Bay Foods has been a food processor in the area for nearly 30 years. We are looking for eager, highly self-motivated, hardworking individuals who want to join our team. Working with us at Orca Bay Foods can be a challenging and rewarding experience. We are a custom food processor, and our customers require good manufacturing and sanitation practices along with great attention to detail. This is a Seattle based position.
About You
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our team as an Entry Level QC Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for performing quality control tests, inspections, and analysis to ensure our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to start their career in the field of quality control and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. We are willing to train the right person.
What Will Be Expected
This is a fast-paced job that requires you to stand and work in a cold and wet environment. The temperature inside of the processing area may vary in range and can be as low as 40 degrees.
Work Schedule
We need people who can meet the attendance requirements which may include weekend work and overtime. You must be willing and able to work extended hours and weekends, which may include both Saturday and Sunday, in peak periods.
Candidates must be able to work between the below hours.
1st Shift: 4:00 am - 4:00 pm
2nd Shift: 3:00 pm - 3:00 am
Hours can extend past these times and workers are expected to work until the job is finished.
Required Experience:
Job Duties
As a Quality Control Technician, you will test and inspect products at various stages of production process. Job duties will include the following:
+ Perform routine quality control tests and inspections on incoming raw materials, in-process components, and finished products
+ Conduct visual inspections to ensure products meet established specifications and standards
+ Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to perform testing and analysis
+ Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
+ Record and document test results accurately and in a timely manner
+ Communicate any quality issues or deviations to the appropriate team members
+ Assist in troubleshooting and resolving quality-related problems
+ Adhere to good manufacturing practices, safety guidelines, and maintain a clean and organized work environment
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
We process a variety of different food products including shellfish. You should not have any known shellfish allergies.
Qualifications:
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Ability to read, write, and communicate in English (Basic Level)
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately
+ Basic understanding of quality control principles and practices
+ Ability to use equipment and instruments effectively
+ Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
+ Good communication skills, both verbal and written
+ Basic knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand constantly; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and climb stairs. The employee must regularly lift and or move between 25-50 lbs. and occasionally lift between 50-75 lbs. Some positions may require heavier lifting.
Work Environment
The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
