    Job Summary

    Starts: March 1 (up to 5 hrs./week in March & April, begin summer schedule May 1)

    Regional Park/Aquatics Program Coordinator: Assists in coordinating regional park or aquatics staff, programs and activities on a seasonal basis.

     

    Examples of Duties

    When assigned to Liberty Lake Regional Park:

    Assists the Recreation Program Manager and Recreation Coordinator in hiring, training, and evaluating staff at Liberty Lake Regional Park. Reviews and approves work schedules of part-time, seasonal staff, monitoring timesheets for accuracy of hours worked, overtime, breaks, lunch hours, etc. Organizes receipts and invoices for accounting, auditing, and budget management.

     

    Completes campground pay station reconciliation and oversees cash handling operations. Processes and modifies campground reservations. Provides world class customer service to all park users.

     

    Coordinates regular maintenance, repairs, operating supplies and needs associated with special events with Liberty Lake and maintenance staff. Trains staff to properly complete routine maintenance duties and light repairs as needed.

     

    Completes tasks assigned by Recreation Program Manager and Recreation Coordinator.

     

    In coordination with the Recreation Program Manager and Recreation Coordinator, develops, promotes and oversees the various programs and other promotional events offered throughout the season. Ensures the required resources are available and ready to successfully host quality programs and events. Prepares staff to provide outstanding guest services during programs and events.

     

    Meets with facility Liberty Lake Park staff daily. Inspects park and campground daily and provides training and direction as necessary to ensure that operations are conducted in accordance with established policies and procedures. Promotes staff development through continued training and goal setting opportunities.

     

    Provides input and proposes updates to the Spokane County Liberty Lake Manual. Analyzes mid-season staff reports and guest evaluations to identify and implement potential opportunities for improvement.

     

    Fills in for Liberty Lake Parks staff as needed. Effectively manages staff time and sends staff home on inclement weather and low user days.

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements

    Regional Park/Aquatics Program Coordinator:

    TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: HS/GED and three (3) years/seasons experience working with aquatic or park maintenance programs. Prefer at least one (1) year/season experience with supervisory responsibilities and two (2) years of college experience.

     

    LICENSES: Valid driver's license. Preferred certifications for Aquatics Program assignment: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (LGT), CPR, First Aid, Food Handler's Permit Water Safety Instructor (WSI); proof of certification required at time of application.

     

    BACKGROUND CHECK: All positions require successful clearance of a criminal history background check.

    • Maintenance and supervisory principles and practices involved in managing the area of assignment.

    Ability to:

    • establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, citizen groups, subordinates, other county departments and the public.

    • plan and implement regular trainings focused on risk management practices, guest services, team cohesion, and leadership.

    • organize and analyze daily budget and operating reports, as needed, for area of assignment.

    • Promote safe, family oriented programs and services within area of assignment.

    (Specific to Liberty Lake regional park):

    + coordinate campground, park, and special event operations to ensure highest level of customer service.

    + operate and train employees to use manual cash register and online reservation system.
