    Job Description

    Title: Corporate Tooling Coordinator

     

    Reports To: Director of Manufacturing Engineering

     

    Department: Engineering

     

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Job Summary:

    Utilizes engineering methodology to support program launch readiness, production planning and continuous improvement. Provides the necessary fabrication and machining knowledge, processing skills, and technical support to the company to ensure American Rheinmetall achieves optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to internal and external customer’s satisfaction.

     

    Essential Functions: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    + Identification of production and validation tooling needs on a project-by-project basis. Assistance in tool conceptualization.

    + Identification of OVS tooling suppliers and subsequent management of OVS tooling suppliers.

    + Development, review, maintenance, and control of production tooling data and tooling production plan. Including TDP (Technical Data Package), Bill of Material, Process Flow / Build Plan, Floor Layouts, and Work Instructions.

    + Quoting of production tooling cost.

    + Support lessons learned activities and implementation into quotes and standards.

    + Identify and address opportunities to eliminate waste within the manufacturing process.

    + Participate in cost reduction efforts and support/implement continuous improvement activities.

    + Work with Quality and Manufacturing departments to ensure validation checks are built into the process and tooling is error proofed.

    + Support corrective actions as required.

    + Support Program Management in APQP activities, as well as project cost adherence.

    + Consult with customers, and provide expertise, to maximize the integrity, efficiency and manufacturability of designs on new and existing projects.

    + Provide floor support during trouble shooting activities.

    + Assist with customer activities/support as requested.

     

    Competencies: To perform the job successfully, an individual will need to perform the following competencies.

     

    + Ability to read and interpret blueprints, models, drawings and technical specifications.

    + Extensive working knowledge of manufacturing practices in a diverse range of processes, including weld fabrications and machining fabrications.

    + GD&T experience required.

    + Experience with the tooling development process [both production tooling and validation tooling] from design through build required.

    + Extensive knowledge of process flows, material flow, assistive tooling devices.

    + Project management experience preferred.

    + Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.

    + Ability to work in a fast paced and varying environment.

    + Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Office software.

    + Proficiency in 3D modeling software preferred.

    + Ability to apply problem solving tools and methodology to a variety of manufacturing and business process issues.

     

    Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)

     

    + Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

    + Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    + Ability displayed and accuracy of work produced, meeting company standards, and requiring little to no rework.

    + Searches out new tasks and expands their ability to perform assigned tasks without direct supervision.

    + Punctuality and attendance.

    + Willingness and cooperativeness with co-workers and supervisors; ability to accept constructive criticism.

    + Follow quality environmental policies and have knowledge of AS9100 and IS14001.

    + Follow safety procedures, security protocol, and wear proper PPE.

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other engineering field.

    Experience:

    A minimum of ten years manufacturing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Background Prerequisites:

    Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
