Summary:
We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer with experience developing and shipping consumer electronics, wearables, and robotic systems. This leader will drive innovation on hardware systems to enable business success in a dynamic, competitive environment. They will do this by leading a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers with access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities.
Required Skills:
Principal Mechanical Engineer (R&D) Responsibilities:
1. Lead mechanical team through the full product development cycle to deliver mechanical component/subsystem designs from concept to production.
2. Play a critical role in the definition and execution of long-term roadmaps in partnership with external and internal hardware and research teams.
3. Partner with researchers and industry to advance TRL of component technology and proactively de-risk integration.
4. Mentor and coach other mechanical engineers.
5. Leverage technical knowledge to influence business strategy and and research portfolio.
Minimum Qualifications:

6. Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
7. 10+ years of experience developing high-volume consumer products with stringent SWAP-C constraints in such as wearables, mobile devices, or similar
8. 10+ years of experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX or similar)
9. Experience in advancing design and manufacturing technologies to enable world-class products (e.g., overmolding, lamination).
10. Experience influencing VPs & Directors on business strategy.

11. Technical depth in Robotics, Textiles, and/or Elastomers.
12. An extensive invention and patent portfolio.
13. Experience leading industry standards and/or driving suppliers to advance state of the art
14. A history of creating an environment of mentorship in a world-class mechanical team.
15. Experience directing modeling teams to use multipart, multiphysics simulations in order to optimize design.
Public Compensation:
$204,000/year to $281,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
