The Department of Neurology has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer 1 to join their team.** **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Animal model drug injections, tissue harvesting and processing
+ Imaging and molecular (DNA/RNA/Protein) analyses
+ Cloning plasmids, DNA sequencing, plasmid preps, keep logs and inventories of plasmid stocks.
+ Supervise and manage undergraduate student helpers, monitor their work
+ Assist with managing a mouse colony for the laboratory and ensure all animal subjects protocols are followed, including Animal husbandry, ordering, shipping and genotyping mice. **MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
+ Bachelor’s degree in engineering or scientific discipline or a related field and one year of relevant. **Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.** **DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Some experience with molecular biology, antibody and histology techniques, graphics and imaging methods for data reporting
+ Able to read and explain scientific publications
+ Basic Molecular biology skills (DNA/RNA, cloning, PCR)
+ Experience with small lab animals (mice)
+ Maintaining databases
+ Experience with gene therapy vectors, especially AAV, preferably also lentiviral vectors. **Application Process:** The application process may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
