    Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE), Behavioral Health

     

    Join Harborview's outstanding **Professional Development and Nursing Excellence (PDNE)** department!

     

    We are seeking a **Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE)** for **Behavioral Health (BH)** to support our inpatient acute care and critical care units with behavioral health needs. This vital role focuses on staff education, care coordination, and workplace violence prevention, contributing to a safer and more informed care environment for both patients and staff.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the Psychiatric Consult Liaison Service with nursing care guidelines and planning.

    • Assist staff in developing behavioral care plans and implementing nursing care strategies.

    • Facilitate multidisciplinary care coordination, emphasizing patient goals and discharge readiness.

    • Provide follow-up support to staff and patients after Code Grey events.

    • Deliver just-in-time education and support to nursing staff.

    • Collaborate with unit-based leadership on patient care plans.

    • Lead unit-based training sessions and facilitate discussions.

    • Support Workplace Violence Prevention trainings, workgroups, committees, and initiatives.

    • Develop and manage behavioral health-related trainings and classes.

    • Serve as the clinical lead for restraint in acute care and critical care areas.

    • Provide and oversee restraint training and education.

    • Assist with PDNE programs such as staff onboarding, the Nurse Residency Program, and skills days.

    • Collaborate with and support the Inpatient Psychiatry Clinical Nurse Educator.

    • Participate in and lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

    • Contribute to behavior health initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:** **Required:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

    • Active Washington State RN license (or applicable multistate RN license)

    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in behavioral health or behavioral health education

    • Proven ability to analyze practice issues and implement meaningful improvements

    • Experience in developing, teaching, and evaluating educational programs

    • Strong collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams

    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills

    • Flexibility to meet workload demands, including evening and night shifts as needed

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

    Preferred:

    • Experience in substance use disorder

    • Background in acute care, intensive care, or academic settings

    • Knowledge of local behavioral health resources

    • Experience caring for complex psychiatric patients

    • Experience with nursing in acute care and critical care inpatient settings

    • Familiarity with research, clinical inquiry, and evidence-based practice projects

    • Understanding of shared governance in nursing practice

    • Master’s degree in Nursing, Behavioral Health, or related field (PhD or DNP preferred)
