Job Summary
The College of Education is seeking a highly motivated and creative student to work up to 19 hours/week as a Social Media Intern. This role will be responsible for managing, creating, and engaging with content across all CoE platforms & the College of Education Dean profiles.
Intern may be asked to cover onsite activities to gather materials needed for communication channels as well as attend some meetings in person.
Responsibilities
**Project Coordination:** The Communication and Social Media Intern controls large portions of the daily activities of all social media under the direction of the Marketing/Communication Specialist ensuring schedules are maintained and deadlines are met. This position is responsible for the status of assigned jobs at all times and ensures all work has been appropriately reviewed before publishing.
**Social Media Publishing:** The Social Media Intern executes approved deliverables through publishing approvals workflows. This position is responsible for ensuring that posts go out as planned on designated platforms with utmost accuracy, which includes occasional weekend and evening work.
**Community Management:** The Social Media Intern engages with the College of Education’s social media community by responding to comments, questions, replies, DMs, tags, and more across all posts and platforms. The CoE Intern is also responsible for troubleshooting inappropriate content by hiding and deleting comments. Intern employs excellent grammar skills and authentic brand voice to participate in social media conversations. Manage College of Education’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter) professionally and consistently.
+ Create original written and graphic content for social media posting that corresponds to our overall marketing strategy.
+ Work closely with the field building graphic design team
+ Support and strategize with all teams throughout the college to amplify various projects and updates.
+ Manage and edit social media content calendar.
+ Maintain brand quality and alignment across all social media posts and post content in a timely manner in accordance to the scheduled deadlines.
+ Lead and/or assist with creating social media campaigns for various projects.
+ Comfortable in front of camera acting as “host” when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Current University of Utah student
Preferences
+ Currently an enrolled University of Utah undergraduate student with more than two semesters before graduation.
+ An interest in social media strategy, marketing, and social impact projects
+ Previous professional work experience in social media/marketing preferred but not required
+ Ability to work as part of a broader team and independently
+ Able to manage multiple deadlines and projects in collaboration with team members
+ Effective communicator across different platforms
