    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    The Medical Assistant will function as a member of the health care team. The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for providing routine administrative as well as clinical tasks under the supervision of a provider within their scope as outlined by policies and procedures to meet patient and provider needs.

     

    At Penn State Health Medical Group Holy Spirit Hospital Cardiology, the MA will perform clinical tasks for adult population such as: completing intake for each patient appointment, obtaining vital signs, performing point of care EKG's, scanning pertinent medical records to the EMR, assisting providers with completion of medical forms needed by patient (STD,LTD, FMLA paperwork), assisting in prescription refills for patients, prescription prior authorization, and assisting with heart monitor applications and stress testing.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

    + High School diploma or equivalent required.

    + Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date or current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required.

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

    + Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program

    + Previous outpatient experience preferred.
