    Description

    The Nursing Laboratory Assistant is responsible for supporting students in the College’s Nursing Skills Simulation Lab on an ‘as needed’ basis. The lab assistant might be asked to assist with simulations in different courses or assist with open lab hours. Assisting fundamentals labs with set up and implementation is also a possibility.

     

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

     

    1. Assists students in their practice of psychomotor nursing skills individually or in groups.

    2. Performs preparation and clean-up for scheduled lab classes

    3. Assists nursing lab faculty and director with scheduled labs and simulation labs as needed

    4. Runs computerized manikins for simulation

    5. Maintains lab and lab equipment, including cleaning of manikins and simulators

    6. Performs other duties as assigned by nursing director or dean.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education Required:

    1.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

    2.Master’ degree in progress is a positive

    3.Registered Nurse (RN) License in New Jersey required

    Experience Required:

    Recent medical surgical, pediatric, or maternity in hospital experience

    Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements:

    1. Pleasant interactive demeanor that encourages student participation.

    2. Ability to work as part of a team with faculty, lab personnel, and other individuals

    3. Proficient in clinical skills

    4. Ability to convey appropriate responses and procedures to students

    5. Organized

    6. Ability to learn new skills : computer programs and simulator programming

     

    Additional Information

    INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:

    Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
