The School of Child and Family Sciences, located within the College of Education and Human Sciences, offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Studies with specialization of family sciences and child development (including teacher preparation for pre-K-Kindergarten). The American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences accredits the undergraduate program. The School also offers a COAMFTE accredited Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy, a Master of Science in Child and Family Sciences, and a Master of Education in School Counseling. Both the CFSBS and the CFSMS are CFLE-Approved programs through the National Council on Family Relations. The School has two auxiliary units, the NAEYC Accredited Center for Child Development and the University Clinic for Family Therapy. Program delivery includes face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats.
Job Summary
The School of Child and Family Sciences at The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a Visiting Instructor position for the 2025-26 academic year only.
The School of Child and Family Sciences is seeking someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the university community and is committed to campus engagement.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Teaching in face-to-face and online formats.
+ Participating in school initiatives focused on student success including curriculum development, advising, and assessment.
+ Maintaining competence in teaching through engagement in professional development activities and incorporating current technology and research on student learning into course delivery and materials development.
+ Contributing to the mission of the school, college, and university through service activities.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned master's in Human Development and Family Science or related field.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
+ Strong written and oral communication skills.
+ Ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
+ Ability to be flexible.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree from a COAMFTE marriage and family therapy program. Licensed or license eligible as an LMFT in Mississippi.
