    Job Summary

    The Honors College Program Manager works closely with the Assistant Dean on all aspects of Honors recruitment, admissions, housing, and Dean’s office special projects. This role involves direct engagement with prospective students, families, high school counselors, and campus stakeholders to highlight the academic and co-curricular opportunities at the**University of Utah Honors College**. The Program Manager will work closely with the Office of Admissions, Housing & Residential Education ( HRE ), and other campus partners.

    Responsibilities

    The Honors College at the University of Utah is looking for a dedicated and motivated professional to join the Dean’s office staff. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:

     

    1. Works to recruit students through various application pathways, including Freshman, Transfer, First-Year Pathway (current U students), and Upper-Division Pathway (current U students).

    2. Support the Assistant Dean by managing or coordinating various admissions-related operations and services. Examples include presenting at Honors tours, meeting with prospective students, reviewing applications and scholarships, and communicating with applicants through in-person meetings, email, and phone.

    3. Engage effectively with prospective students and their families both in-person and virtually. Develop a strong understanding of Honors and University requirements to help students understand how Honors will fit into their academic plans, working alongside academic advisors as needed.

    4. Represent the Honors College at recruitment events and open houses, including weekend and evening events such as Discover the U, Choose the U, and Merit Scholarship Receptions.

    5. Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors, teachers, community college advisors, and University staff.

    6. Help admitted students understand the matriculation process. Work with the advising team and Utah Bound Orientation staff to ensure a smooth transition into Honors and the University.

    7. Work with the Assistant Dean to raise awareness of and increase applications for the newly established Honors Pathways for current University of Utah students.

    8. Responsible for annual updates of Honors admissions and housing webpages & applications. Collaborates with partners to update and create marketing materials each year.

    9. Regularly communicates with the HRE occupancy team to facilitate student applications and placements in Honors Housing, including the Katharine Garff Honors Tower at Kahlert Village, Honors at Sage Point, the Marriott Honors Community, and Officers Circle Houses.

    10. Will work with Honors leadership on the Spring 2026 roll out and long-term coordination of honors contracts. Assist with implementing other recommendations from the**Advancing Honors Project**.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.

     

    Previous experience in an advising, counseling or teaching environment is preferred.

     

    This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients.

     

    Preferences

    Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the following:

    + Knowledge and understanding of honors education.

    + Knowledge of recruitment, student services, and/or academic advising.

    + Ability to present effectively to small and large groups and to work productively with a wide range of stakeholders.

    + Ability to gather data, analyze information, and prepare and present reports.

    + Experience with, or ability learn, CRM platforms such as Slate and StarRez.

    + Master’s degree and two years of experience preferred.
