    Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Tenure System

    Position Summary

    The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applicants for an open-rank tenure-system faculty position within the College of Communication Arts and Sciences (ComArtSci). We seek scholars whose research, teaching, outreach, and/or service will further enhance the national and international excellence of CSD, ComArtSci, and MSU with an emphasis on supporting the 2030 MSU Strategic Plan (https://strategicplan.msu.edu/).

     

    The Department of CSD seeks an individual committed to developing an outstanding program of research and demonstrating excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service. All areas of research specialization will be considered, but the following areas are of particular interest: developmental language disorders, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), stuttering, voice and voice disorders, aphasia, and cognitive aspects of communication.

     

    We seek scholars whose research, teaching, outreach, and/or service will advance the College’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The start date for this position is August 2025.

    Required Degree

    Doctorate -communicative sciences and disorders or a terminal degree in a related discipline (e.g., education, linguistics, neuroscience, psychology, etc.)

    Minimum Requirements

    + Ph.D. in communicative sciences and disorders or a terminal degree in a related discipline (e.g., education, linguistics, neuroscience, psychology, etc.)

    + Demonstrated success, or potential for success, in obtaining external funding

    + Demonstrated success, or potential for success, in scholarly productivity

    Desired Qualifications

    + Commitment to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students

    + Ability to teach required and elective courses, some of which are clinical in nature, in our undergraduate and graduate degree programs

    + Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or equivalent

    The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders has active research laboratories and multiple endowments to support student and faculty development. The Department’s thriving undergraduate major and minor, MA, and PhD programs prepare students for successful clinical and research careers in speech-language pathology and related fields. The Department is housed within MSU’s world-renowned College of Communication Arts and Sciences. The College provides excellent infrastructure for pre-award extramural grant submission, post-award grant administration, and information technology support for research and teaching.
