    Position Summary

    Xylem is currently searching for an Applications Engineer for our office in Acworth, GA (other Office locations are acceptable as well). The Applications Engineer would work with the team at Xylem specializing in providing wastewater treatment solutions, primarily Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) and biological treatment technologies, for industrial customers. As an Applications Engineer, you would work with our experienced team in all phases of our wastewater treatment projects, with primary focus on process design, business development, and process start-up activities, while also contributing to marketing, laboratory and pilot work, and customer aftercare.

    Core Responsibilities and Tasks

    + Develop proposals for wastewater treatment projects

    + Be responsible for coordinating with business development team, senior process staff, CADD department, intercompany engineering and equipment sales teams, and cost estimators to generate overall proposal

    + Proposal preparation duties include discussions with prospective customer, reviewing customer specifications, selecting appropriate wastewater treatment technology, preparing process flow diagram, defining scope of services, outlining technology technical specifications, etc.

    + Process design activities for full-scale projects

    + Preparing P&IDs and technical documentation for the project, providing process input on system operation to project managers, detailed design engineers, field service technicians, and electrical engineers, etc.

    + Start-up and commissioning activities for full-scale projects

    + Preparing technical documentation outlining information required for treatment plant operation, working on-site with plant personnel, field service technicians, and subcontractors to commission and start-up treatment system, developing and executing start-up plan, conducting operator training, etc.

    + Coordinate pilot studies or rental agreements for demonstrating wastewater treatment technology to prospective customers.

    + Assisting with set-up and start-up of pilot/rental system, training plant personnel on the operation of the system, communicating with operators on system performance, preparing technical reports on system performance, etc.

    + Work with Evoqua's laboratory technicians to review and interpret analytical wastewater testing of wastewater samples

    + Follow-up and aftercare services for full-scale projects

    + Communicating with operators to review system performance and operating data, process troubleshooting, reporting to internal team on system performance, etc.

    + Assist with Evoqua's marketing and business development activities

    + Developing case studies and promotional material, coordinating and conducting sales presentations and site visits, attending and/or preparing technical papers for trade shows and conferences, etc.

    Position Requirements

    FORMAL EDUCATION:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering

    + Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering is preferred

    KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    + 5-15 years of experience in process engineering, specializing in industrial wastewater treatment

    + Proficiency with design and operation of Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology is a strong asset

    + Proficiency with design and operation of biological wastewater treatment technologies, particularly activated sludge technologies (such as moving bed biofilm reactor [MBBR], sequencing batch reactor [SBR], and membrane bioreactor [MBR]), and anaerobic digestion technologies, is a strong asset

    + Proficiency with API refinery standards is a strong asset

    + Business development / marketing experience is an asset

    + Proficient with Standard Methods for analytical testing of water samples

    + Proficient with MS Office

    + Strong technical writing and communication skills

    + Fluency in second language is an asset

    + Strong organizational and analytical skills

    + Work as part of a team to complete project objectives

    + Experience with wastewater treatment process modeling software (e.g., BioWin) is an asset

    + Willing to travel (domestic and international) up to 30% of the year

    Salary range:

    $63,600.00 - $101,800.00
