    JOB TITLE : Data Specialist

    SALARY RANGE : $72,000 - $82,000

    HAY POINTS : 342

    SUPERVISOR : Deputy Director, Capital Program Funding Management

     

    LOCATION : 2 Broadway

     

    HOURS OF WORK : 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (7 ½ hours/day)

     

    DEADLINE : Open until filled

     

    This position is eligible for telework which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

    SUMMARY :

    This is a Data Specialist position working in the Capital Program Funding Management department in Capital Programs at MTA Headquarters. The position supports the Senior Manager and the grants management team on management of federal grant funds, post grant execution. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, preparing, and issuing federal grant data calls, preparing back-up documents in support of grant budget revisions, amendments, and other administrative changes necessary to maximize spend down of federal funds for the MTA capital programs.

    RESPONSIBILITIES :

    + Prepares periodic federal funding updates to Grants Management team for internal and external reporting

     

    End Result : Provides timely communication to internal and external stakeholders on the status of capital funds across capital programs.

     

    + Quarterly Hurricane Sandy insurance and federal drawdown

    + Prepares support documents required for federal grant linkages and inform budget revisions necessary to reprogram and maximize use of executed federal grant dollars. Works with Grants Management to identify grants that need to be amended.

    End Result :

    + Linkage of uncommitted federal grant funds

    + Reprogram excess grant funds to maximize usage of available capital fund sources, thereby reducing pressure/dependency on MTA debt/cash funding

    + Works on special projects and assignments; coordinate activities of peers and supervise subordinate staff as necessary.

    + Other Duties as assigned to the responsibilities.

    + Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and trouble-shooter with ability to independently problem solve.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :

    Required:

    + Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, public policy or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience from an accredited college may be considered in lieu of a degree.

    + Minimum 2 years related experience.

    Preferred:

    + Minimum 2 years of work experience ( Master’s degree in a related field may substitute up to 2 years of work experience)

    + Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body.
