    JOB SUMMARY

    Under general supervision, provides a variety of appropriate chore services to elderly and/or disabled Tribal members.

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Provide special chore services to eligible senior or disabled Tribal members in a caring and compassionate manner.

    + Responsible for intakes, providing narratives, case notes, FTDM and visits with APS.

    + Conduct home visits.

    + Clean and assist with elders homes.

    + Clean and maintain assigned vehicle.

    + Changes bed linens, washes and irons laundry and cleans rooms.

    + Purchases, prepares and serves food for client, following special dietary needs as necessary.

    + Assists clients into and out of bed, automobile, or wheelchair, to lavatory and up and down stairs.

    + Administers prescribed oral medications under written direction of physician or as directed by home care nurse.

    + May accompany ambulatory clients outside home serving as aide.

    + May read to client or play cards or other games as appropriate.

    + Performs variety of miscellaneous duties as requested such as obtaining household supplies, food and running errands.

    + Maintains records of services performed and of observed condition of client.

    + May schedule doctor or dentist appointments, may make travel arrangements, or arrange for client to join other seniors on outings.

    + Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

    EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    Gr aduation from a high school or equivalent with course work in general office practices, and five (5) years of related experience in assigned program area. Must complete home health care certification program immediately upon hire. Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification and Food Handler’s permit within 30 days of hire. Must have valid Washington State Driver’s License, own transportation and valid insurance coverage.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION

    + Cooking and good dietary needs of seniors

    + Good housekeeping practices

    + First Aid/CPR

    + Working with elderly and disabled people

    + Light home maintenance

    + Good housekeeping skills

    + Ability to communicate and basically get along with elders/seniors

    + Gentle/good bed-side manner

    + Data entry, computer skills, TAMS

    + Keep daily log of services rendered

    + Knowledge of medical emergencies

    + Cleaning, laundering, vacuuming, dusting, window-washing and mopping

    + Carpet shampooing

    + Light yard work

    + Ability to lift more than 35lbs

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    The working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties of this class. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. May be required to kneel, twist, bend, and/or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.
