    Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) supports Johns Hopkins’ focus on research, teaching and patient care, and its role as a national and global leader in higher education. We create and foster enduring relationships that result in advocacy and philanthropic support for Johns Hopkins University & Medicine—strengthening the institution through partnerships with donors, alumni, volunteer leaders, faculty, students, staff, and patients.

     

    Johns Hopkins University supports a flexible work model which includes four different work modalities. This role has a remote work arrangement with an onsite presence of three days per week. The manager will confirm the team’s core onsite days where the majority/all team members will work in the office. Employees who travel on university business can count those days towards their onsite days.

     

    Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) is seeking an experienced professional to serve as an Associate Director for Constituent Engagement, Alumni Relations, in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. This position will be responsible for supporting the planning, development, and implementation of engagement strategies, programs, activities, and communication efforts aimed at growing our alumni and supporter base, building and stewarding alumni support, and enhancing alumni and supporter involvement and participation. Working under the supervision of the Director of Constituent Engagement, the person serving in this position will help manage, implement and coordinate various aspects of the external alumni relations programming and communications to deepen alumni engagement, support the efforts of the development officers and internal stakeholders.

    Key responsibilities:

    _Alumni Relations (40%):_

    + Under the direction of the Director of Constituent Engagement, this Associate Director will support the planning, development, and execution of SAIS alumni programs and initiatives that connect alumni with each other, current students, and the institution.

    + Engage alumni locally, nationally, and globally

    + Manage select affinity-based or special interest alumni groups by providing support in planning, promoting, and implementing a variety of events and strategic alumni relations programs.

    + Manage the nomination, submission, and recognition process for SAIS candidates to the Johns Hopkins Alumni Association annual awards.

    + Help develop and implement assessment tools to measure and track alumni and donor engagement to increase participation and volunteerism. Document volunteer engagement in alumni database for stewardship and data analysis needs.

    + Develop and implement a stewardship strategy to acknowledge the work of long-term volunteers and one-off supporters.

    + Assist in updating alumni and donor contact information in the JHU database. Analyze and research alumni data in support of alumni engagement strategies.

    _Programs and Events (30%):_

    + Support the planning and execution of signature events, 25+ DAR-led alumni events and 25+ alumni-led events, in DC and around the world. Help manage logistics such as venue selection, catering, transportation, and on-site management.

    + Help create a meaningful reunion experience for 200+ alumni celebrating graduation milestones by managing class volunteer reunion committees and partnering with internal colleagues on committee engagement.

    + Help manage the SAIS DAR events calendar.

    _Communications (30%):_

    + Manage 100+ event invitations, special announcements, SAIS updates, and calls-to-action via Salesforce Marketing Cloud;

    + In partnership with SAIS DAR colleagues, manage alumni website edits and updates.

    + Manage service indicators cleanup and data updates to expand reach to improve segmented outreach and implement personalized communications

    + Partner with internal colleagues and MarComms to identify and profile alumni to feature on the SAIS website, social media, and magazine.

    + Manage the collection and features of oral histories from distinguished alumni.

    + Implement a strategic communications strategy for alumni engagement with admissions and global careers to increase alumni referrals and mentors.

    + Help manage the SAIS DAR communications calendar. Help manage the SAIS alumni email accounts and respond to inquiries by alumni, internal stakeholders, and advancement colleagues, and assists when possible and appropriate.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's degree.

    + Three years related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience in alumni engagement, program or event management, higher education, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + A proven and energetic relationship builder with experience working with experience in effectively managing volunteer groups, executing programming and special events.

    + Communications experience, including familiarity with a variety of communication tools such as newsletters, email communications or social media.

    + Ability to function efficiently and as a self-starter in a complex organizational environment demanding high energy, discretion,

    + patience, enthusiasm, and creativity.

    + Knowledge of event logistics planning and creating and monitoring event budgets a plus. Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend events and to travel on an as needed basis.

    + Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and prioritize workload. Must be detail oriented and able to complete projects

    + while adhering to aggressive deadlines.

    + Strong verbal/written communication and proofreading skills

    + Must possess exemplary interpersonal skills and demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences and in a

    + team setting.

    + Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

    Starting Salary Range: Minimum: $62,899 - Maximum: $110,100 (targeted salary: $90,000; commensurate with experience)

     

    Employee group: Full Time

     

    Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm

    The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
