Job Title: Materials Intern
Department: Materials
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: The Materials Intern will support various tasks related to inventory management, production tracking, supplier onboarding, and operational efficiency. This role provides hands-on experience in updating production schedules, improving warehouse operations, managing supplier information, and optimizing material flows within the organization.
Responsibilities:
+ Assist with updating and maintaining production tracking documents (e.g., MRLS) and job cleanup routing to ensure accurate data entry and material management.
+ Support the development of inventory systems and warehouse optimization efforts, including analyzing workflows and tracking performance metrics.
+ Help onboard new suppliers, update vendor information, and ensure accuracy in the supplier database.
+ Conduct time studies to identify process inefficiencies and collaborate on operational improvements.
+ Research and update material specifications (e.g., paint attributes) to maintain accurate system records and improve material management.

+ Analytical skills to assess inventory and warehouse workflows and recommend improvements.
+ Organizational abilities for managing data entry, tracking systems, and supplier records.

Education and/or Experience:
+ Pursuing a bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Background Prerequisites:
+ Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
