JOB SUMMARY

This position is a team position taking responsibility in assisting with the development, implementation and outcomes evaluation of a plan of nursing care provided by the surgical team. This position requires providing services to one or more age populations, including neonate through geriatric, in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional/developmental age of the individual served.

Sterile Processing: This position provides department specific assistance to the processing of sterile instrumentation and other procedural trays and supplies. Duties include the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, assembly of items to be sterilized, correct packaging of items, loading of sterilizers to achieve sterility, accurate handling, transportation and storage to maintain sterilization. The sterile processing technician monitors sterilization mechanically, chemically and biologically. This position must understand the decontamination processes and inventory control processes. This position provides department specific assistance from the retrieval of soiled instruments to the storage of sterile instruments. Duties include retrieval and transportation of instruments, rendering contaminated items safe for handling, following specific procedures related to transporting cleaned items to areas for proper storage or other areas for further processing. Must have good communication, auditory and visual skills, be hands-on, be analytical and be detail oriented.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training/Experience:

REQUIRED:

+ High School diploma or equivalent

+ Complete an accredited Surgical Technology Program

+ License/Certifications/Special Requirements:

+ Surgical Technologist certification
