    SUMMARY

    Responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes safety and wellbeing of all patients in the assigned long term care setting on a twenty-four hour basis.  Performs administrative duties such as planning, coordinating, hiring, discipline, evaluating and educating nursing personnel.  Participates in the development and implementation of the nursing unit's performance improvement, budget process and policy procedures.  Responsible for the orientation, competency of clinical/technical skills, licensure requirements, participation on various committees. Perform duties of nurse services, direct patient care, and rotation of call.

     

    The LTC Manager is the primary liaison between CFVH and the residents and their families.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    + Has 24/7 accountability for reporting departments.

    + Has working knowledge of regulatory standards related to department(s).

    + Recruits, hires, supervises, disciplines and evaluates all levels of department staff.

    + Coordinates orientation of new personnel to job requirements, equipment, policy and procedure and assigns preceptor/mentor.

    + Develops staff schedule, ensures adequate coverage to support in all areas of acute care nursing and adjusts staffing levels based on census/acuity.

    + Ensures licensed personnel are practicing within their scope of practice as well as ensure that all staff are functioning within appropriate State/CMS regulations.

    + Conducts regular staff/team meetings, medical staff meeting (if applicable), care conferences and staff development opportunities.

    + Develops operating and capital budgets for the departments annually and monitors fiscal measures of productivity, payroll, expense and revenue monthly.

    + Audits documentation related to care and billing, if applicable, to evaluate quality of care as well as timeliness of completion and compliance with standards, regulations and guidelines.

    + Develops and analyzes annual Quality Assurance Performance Improvement plan and maintains a monthly dashboard and participates in interdisciplinary performance improvement projects.

    + Develops, reviews, and revises policies and procedures for all aspects/functions of department(s) and ensure all regulatory standards are met.

    + Conducts leader and patient/resident rounding monthly and promotes customer and employee satisfaction initiatives such as hourly rounding, thank you notes, AIDET, stoplight reports etc

    + Ensures emergency management plans are in place and staff training occurs regularly.

    + Provides direct patient care at least 8 hours per month and as needed and performs RN duties:

    + Administers and manages prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, within their scope of practice and notifies the provider when appropriate.

    + Documents care completely, accurately and timely in the appropriate health record.

    + Initiates/participates in the implementation of individualized patient/resident/ family education plans.

    + Creates/Manages the patient care plans according to the individualized needs of the patient/resident.

    + Demonstrates competencies within their scope of practice.

    + Follows all standards that are applicable to their specialty or area of work.

    + Adheres to recognized infection control standards.

    + Responsible for oversight of the certified nursing assistants (CNA) where applicable by law and licensed practical nurses (LPN).

    + Professionally conveys clinical information to other team members.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

     

    Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Currently licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator in the State of Montana or able to obtain licensure within a year of  accepting offered position and have at least one year nursing management, preferably recent experience in management of a long-term care facility; Cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care.  Computer knowledge and abilities preferred.  Must be flexible with working schedule

     

    Administrators must maintain licensure according to State regulations and must attend continuing education as required.
