    Job Summary:

    The Head Peer Mentor position is critical to the success of the Sophomore Summer Quest program, which will take place from Sunday, June 1 to Thursday, June 5. Peer mentors will work with SUNY Purchase students on all activities during the session. The following is a list of responsibilities which will be clarified in detail at mandatory training sessions prior to the beginning of the Sophomore Quest.

    Job Duties:

    + The Head Peer Mentor will report directly to the Program Administrator and work closely with the Sophomore Quest Staff.

    + Supervise Sophomore Quest peer mentor staff

    + Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of Sophomore Quest student participants

    + Provide feedback to the Sophomore Quest Staff regarding mentor and student progress and/or concerns via daily debriefing.

    + Meet with Sophomore Quest staff and assign daily duties/responsibilities (small group monitoring, attendance, programming, academic/program assignments, etc.)

    + Assist mentor staff with the implementation of the daily program itinerary.

    + Support and enforce campus code of conduct and residence hall policies.

    + Build and encourage group cohesiveness and individual development for student/program success.

    + Address any residence emergencies by contacting the Program Administrator/their designee as per protocol.

    + Ensure that Sophomore Quest staff follows the outlined daily/evening summer program schedule.

    + Provide support to Sophomore Quest staff in complying with workshop attendance, program options, and curfew.

    + Maintain a positive attitude in the supervision of the Sophomore Quest staff and professional collaborations with other offices and programs.

    + Follow the Sophomore Quest summer program, goals, and objectives.

    + Submit online timesheets needed for compensation by the conclusion of the training.

    + Attendance at all training sessions.

    + Assist program staff with reasonable additional duties as needed.

    Job Requirements:

    Required Education/Qualifications:

    + Must be in good academic standing.

    + Must meet minimum grade point average requirements.

    + Must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours per semester as an undergraduate student at a SUNY comprehensive college or university center.

    + Should be patient, reliable, flexible, and enthusiastic.

    Preferred Education/Qualifications:

    + Experience working as a peer mentor.

    + Experience in a leadership position.

    Compensation:

    Payment of $900 plus residence hall room and meal plan of three meals per day plus some evening snacks.
