• Weekday Evening & Digital Meteorologist

    KVEO NBC 23 is looking for an Evening Meteorologist (Monday-Friday). The successful candidate forecasts weather conditions, produces, and anchors weather reports for all platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to viewers. The candidate will also produce in-depth weather explainers using VR graphics and hand-tracking technology and play an essential role in our new live-streaming app.

    Qualifications:

    + Ability to analyze meteorological data to produce a forecast.

    + Production of weather graphics using the Baron weather system to support the forecast.

    + Ensures that all weather content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.

    + Writes and delivers weather stories clearly and concisely.

    + Assists in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating weather programming and other content for TV and digital platforms, including our new live-streaming app

    + Responds to severe weather events and other urgent newsroom situations as required.

    + Works closely with the weather team to develop comprehensive weather coverage.

    + Participates in promotional activities, including public appearances.

    + Writes web stories detailing the local forecast daily.

    + Interacts with viewers and users on social media.

    + Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

    Requirements & Skills:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

    + Fluency in English, bilingual Spanish a plus

    + Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to ad-lib

    + Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

    + Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution

    + Valid driver’s license with a good driving record

    + Flexibility to work any shift
