    Job Description

    Position Summary:

    The Laboratory Technologist analyzes blood and body fluids as a diagnostic aid to the physicians by producing accurate and precise test results. This position also has the responsibility of training MT students, MLT students, and new employees. The technologist must be able to accurately enter test results into the LIS and communicate effectively throughout the hospital. The technologist may occasionally be required to collect routine venous specimens.

    Qualifications:

    A. Education:

     

    Associates degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.

    Preferred Certification:

    MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT) or equivalent. Must meet the CLIA education requirements for testing personnel performing high complexity testing.

     

    B. Job Knowledge:

     

    Must have a thorough understanding of Clinical Laboratory Procedures.
