Job Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
The Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management (AESHM) in the College of Health and Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for one or more term faculty positions (non-tenure track) at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice, to teach one to four courses per semester in Beverage Management. Initial appointment length is one semester to one year, depending on staffing needs.
The ideal candidate will teach the beverage management course offerings and serve as an expert in the following areas: wine, spirits, beer, and/or mixology. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Teach highly experiential and large undergraduate courses in wine, beer, spirits, mixology, beverage management, and/or other related areas as needed in a lecture/lab with a beverage-tasting format
+ Ensure alignment between products being purchased and tasted with teaching objectives
+ Support faculty and students in beverage management-related issues
+ Work collaboratively with the hospitality management program to grow and adjust beverage management course offerings to ensure alignment with the needs of the industry and the demand of students
+ Be involved with curriculum and assume other responsibilities normally associated with either an assistant professor of practice or an assistant teaching professor
Required Minimum Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree
+ At least one degree in Hospitality Management or related field
+ Experience in the beverage management industry
+ Certifications relevant to the beverage industry
+ Prior teaching experience at the university/college level
Department/Program & College Description:
The Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management is one of five academic units in the College of Health and Human Sciences and offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The Iowa State University’s Beverage Management courses are offered by the Hospitality Management program.
