    Director, Continuing Professional Development - College of Nursing

     

    Wayne State University is searching for an experiencedDirector, Continuing Professional Development - College of Nursingat its Detroit campus location.

    Essential functions (job duties):

    Lead the OCPD staff team in the development of new, diversified revenue sources, including contributed support, which will sustain existing and/or fund new continuing education initiatives, and ensure long term financial CNE sustainability.

     

    Oversee and supervise staff. Will recruit, hire, train, direct daily activities, discipline and develop staff to ensure accurate and timely customer service and service delivery. Ensure transactions for all personnel within the assigned units are performed in compliance with university policy and procedure. Manage the work of staff members including administrative assistant, instructional designer. Provide appropriate feedback and performance reviews.

     

    Develops and implements comprehensive CNE activities which include formal Nursing CEU courses (regionally, nationally, internationally) internal courses and outreach activities.

     

    Identifying and recruiting Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), both internally and externally.

     

    Create a business development plan for OCPD which includes operational plans quantifiable goals for revenue generation;

     

    Seek, build, and develop ongoing relationships and partnerships with alumni support staff, clinical and community agency leaders and potential clients for continuing education.

     

    Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Unique duties:

    Oversees the daily operations of the Office of Continuing Professional Development (OCPD), within the College of Nursing. Responsible for development and ongoing management of the office, client engagements, supervision of staff, development of client proposals and marketing of services. This position reports into the Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs.

    Qualifications:

    Education: Master's degree

     

    Master’s degree from an accredited university in Nursing.

     

    Experience: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

     

    Minimum 2 years of experience as a professional development nurse educator in a hospital or other clinical setting; experience with completing continuing education materials, sessions, and CEU paperwork

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally both orally and in writing.

     

    Supervisory Skills: Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train staff and develop others' skills. Ability to foster teamwork among staff members.

     

    Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well in cross-functional team settings, changes approach or method to best fit the situation, reacts to successes and failures with a learning orientation.

     

    Organizational Skills: Demonstrated project management skills, prioritizes, and plans work activities, able to deal with change or unexpected events.

     

    Management Skills: Excellent problem-solving ability combined with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects; develops strategies to achieve departmental goals.
